Welcome to Whittington Heath

Whittington Heath G. C. will be hosting the English Womens Open Stroke Play Championships between 3rd - 5th August 2010

A warm welcome is assured at Whittington Heath Golf Club, one of the oldest courses in England. This well established club originated in l886 as a 9 hole course and in l927 Harry S. Colt was brought in to re-model and extend the course to its present l8 hole course.

This popular Heathland course with views of Lichfield Cathedral in the distance is well situated in the Midlands, on the A 51 between Lichfield and Tamworth (next door to Whittington Barracks), is easily accessible to the midlands motorway network and is close to the M6 toll road.

The course is a good test for golfers of all levels. The course wends its way through heather and gorse and you will need to keep on the straight and narrow to score well.

The Club has hosted many prestigious top amateur events including
The Carris Trophy in l997, the Women's Home Internationals in l986, and last year held the

English Boys County Finals which attracted some of the countries top amateur golfers. In August this year the club are pleased to host the return of the English Women
s open Amateur Strokeplay Championship, which was last held at the club in 2002.

Casual visitors, Golf Societies and Corporate days are well catered for and our staff are on hand to make sure the days run smoothly.

There is no doubt that Whittington Heath Golf Club is a club with character, the more your play the course, the more you want to and in the Clubhouse you will find the atmosphere of friendliness so necessary to complete a perfect days golf.
