WHITTINGTON HEATH GOLF CLUB INFORMATION FOR JUNIOR MEMBERS
Whittington Heath welcomes junior golfers to its membership recognising that a proportion of the juniors will become full members of the future. Part of the ethos of WHGC is to encourage junior members, ensure they enjoy their golf and are allowed to develop both their golfing ability and personal skills. Also to observe the Rules and Bye-laws of the club and conduct themselves in a responsible way both on and off the course.
Our aim is to get the juniors out on the course and to achieve a handicap to those who are ready and along the way teach them the rules of the game as they play.
The junior organisers along with the professional staff are all DBS checked and will have completed the "safeguarding children" course.
We have entered an 18 hole competition for the able junior golfers with handicaps of boys 28 and below and girls 36 and below, playing both home and away courses. We have entered a golf sixes league for the juniors with handicaps above 36 and with no handicap so that they will also gain valuable experiences on our course and other courses.
We also hope that any parent who is a member of another club will go out on our course with their children after obtaining prior approval from our general manager and/or our professional. There will be no charge for this.
Coaching sessions have now commenced on Saturday mornings from 09.30-10.30 and 11.00-12.00 with a PGA qualified professional. It is ESSENTIAL to prebook your child into one of these sessions as our professional can take a maximum of 10 children per session. Places will be allocated on a first come first served basis. We understand that this may cause disappointment from time to time but hope you understand we are trying to deliver a quality level of coaching. A representative of the junior development team will also be available to support our professional and the children during these sessions.
We would welcome any input from parents/guardians and children for any fundraising ideas they have as these funds will be used specifically in the junior section. If you have any suggestions on how we can help in any area of the running of the junior section then please let us know, for example we are thinking of setting up a Whats App group for quicker communication to parents/children.
Our Junior Captain this year is Izzy Speck.
